Random late-night shooting leaves 14-year-old critically injured in Tri-Cities

A 14-year-old boy was in critical condition Saturday after an apparently random shooting in Kennewick just before midnight Friday.

Several people called 911 to report gunshots in the 800 block of South Garfield Street, Kennewick Police Department said in a news release.

They arrived to find find the teen lying in a front yard with a gunshot wound. Although in critical condition, he is stable, according to police.

A 15-year-old boy who was with the the other teen said they did not know who shot at them.

“At this time, this appears to be a random act with no known motive,” said the release.
