Pasco 16-year-old crashes at 3 a.m. fleeing WSP trooper. His friends are in the hospital
Two crashes near the Tri-Cities on Monday morning have injured a motorcyclist and two teens.
The first happened just before 3 a.m. when a 16-year-old Pasco teen lost control on an exit ramp while trying to outrun a Washington State Patrol trooper in a marked car with the lights and sirens activated.
The teen lost control of his Acura as he left Highway 12 in Burbank, heading toward Highway 124.
His 15- and 16-year-old male passengers were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Their conditions were not immediately available. One was wearing a seat belt and it was unknown if the other was, said investigators.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt and was cited and released. Charges are pending prosecutor review according to the WSP.
The teens’ names were not released.
Motorcycle crash
About five hours later, a motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after sliding into a semi truck near the Interstate 82 on-ramp from Locust Grove Road south of the Tri-Cities.
Investigators believe the Harley-Davidson was headed west on Locust Grove Road when the semi pulling a trailer started across the road. Charges are pending for the driver of the truck, Bhupinder Singh, 31, of Kent, according to the WSP report.
The motorcyclist, Allen Stone, 43, of Kennewick, didn’t have a chance to stop, so he laid down the bike and slid into the side of the cab, according to police on the scene.
Stone was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers and Benton County sheriff’s deputies diverted traffic around the crash scene.
