UPDATE: 16-year-old arrested for shooting another teen outside a Tri-Cities home

A 16-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting of another teen outside a Conway Place home.

Several detectives and officers found the boy at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home on the 500 block of South Hawthorne Street.

He was arrested and booked into the Benton Franklin Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Police and an ambulance were called to the 400 block of South Conway Place shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a 16-year-old boy who had been shot from behind, according to dispatch reports. The shooting was near Westgate Elementary School.

The teen was in stable condition at a local hospital Wednesday and is expected to recover, Kennewick police said in a release.

The two teens had a personal dispute that led to the shooting, said police Sgt. Jason Kiel.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Kennewick police through the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
