How did a Kennewick teen end up shot and at the hospital? That’s what police want to know

Kennewick police are trying to determine how a teen ended up with a gunshot wound in a hospital Thursday evening.

A teen called police around 6:10 p.m. to report he’d been shot when he was near Sixth Avenue and Hawthorne Street, but when officers arrived they couldn’t find any sign of him, said Kennewick police Sgt. Joe Jackson.

Officers started going to local hospitals to check for anyone who had been wounded when 25 minutes later the teen was dropped off. Police did not say which hospital he was taken to.

On Friday police were still trying to determine where he was shot, who shot him and if anyone saw what happened.

Police believe it was an isolated incident.

The shooting was the third in the Tri-Cities this week. Police in Pasco are still investigating a pair of unrelated shootings that left one man in critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kennewick police through non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.

You also can contact Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers at 509-586-8477 or 800-222-8477, of go online at tricitiescrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers offers up to $1,000 for information leading to a felony arrest.
