Where to dispose, dump and ditch your 2025 Christmas tree in Tri-Cities
Admit it: That Christmas tree is starting to look a bit bare and shaggy.
Fortunately, Tri-City merrymakers have options aplenty for disposing and dumping those dried-out trees. It’s important, though, to remember that those trees must be free of lights and decorations before being thrown out.
Here’s how to donate your tree:
Pasco
- Pasco and Franklin County are partnering to accept undecorated, live trees. They can be dumped at the Big Cross disc golf course, located along Road 36. The facility is open daily 8 a.m.-5 p.m. until Monday, Jan. 19. Donated trees get a second life, and will be chipped and reused to improve the running path at the course. This service is free.
- Basin Disposal picks up Christmas trees curbside in similar fashion to yard waste. Customers should cut logs and branches down to 4-foot bundles and remove ornaments and tinsels. There is no charge for city limit customers with included extra pickups, other customers may be charged pickup of an extra yard pickup.
Kennewick
- The Waste Management Transfer Station, located at 2627 South Ely Street, will take live trees of all sizes free of charge through Jan. 31. Bare trees will be accepted during their business hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. WM Customers can also call for bulky item collection: 1-877-466-4668.
Richland
- Richland Solid Waste Utility will collect undecorated Christmas trees at curbside pickups Jan. 5-16. Trees more than 6 feet in length must be cut in half. The green yard waste containers must be at the curb for collection.
