24-year-old motorcyclist killed in collision at Pasco intersection

A 24-year-old Richland motorcyclist died early Sunday after colliding with a car at a Pasco intersection.

Maximillian J. Ritchey was riding his motorcycle east on Lewis Street when he crossed the center line into the path of a Chevy Malibu near 12th Avenue about 1 a.m., said Washington State Patrol Daniel Mosqueda.

Ritchey, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike, and first responders could not save him. He died at the scene.

Mosqueda said there was no sign that Ritchey was speeding.

WSP is handling the crash investigation because Pasco police were involved at the same time with investigating a shooting at a Halloween party in another part of town. Five people were wounded in the shooting.

Ritchey worked as a security guard at Lee’s Tahitian and staff members gathered on Sunday to mourn his passing.
