The Tri-City Herald is searching for the cutest pet in Tri-Cities — and we need your help.

We’re launching a competition to crown the most adorable dog and captivating cat in the area.

This contest is open to all dogs and cats living in Benton and Franklin counties.

Here’s your chance to prove your furry friend is the most fetching of all.

How to enter Tri-City Herald’s cutest pet contest

If you think your dog or cat has what it takes, submit a picture of your pet to the Tri-City Herald and answer a few questions about your animal companion.

The deadline for submissions is noon on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Anyone living in Benton and Franklin counties can enter their pets. You may submit multiple pets, but you must fill out individual submission forms for each furry friend you wish to enter into the contest.

If we receive more than 50 submissions, a newsroom committee of Herald pet lovers will select the top 50 cutest entries for each animal. Those top 50 will move on to public voting rounds.

When can I vote for my favorite dog or cat?

Voting for the Tri-City Herald’s cutest pet poll will begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Time on Monday, Oct. 20.

When voting begins, you can vote as many times as you wish.

Voting ends at midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, the top 10 cats and top 10 dogs will move to the next round of voting.

Voting will conclude on Monday, Oct. 27. The Herald will announce the winner on Monday, Nov. 3, at tri-cityherald.com.

Cutest cat and dog contests are taking place at more than 20 McClatchy newspapers across the country. The winners from each market will automatically be entered into a second contest to determine the Cutest Cat and Cutest Dog in the country, launching Monday, Nov. 10.

Reminder: This poll isn’t scientific — it’s just for fun!
