Winning Powerball lottery ticket worth $50,000 sold near Tri-Cities. See where

Powerball tickets sold in Washington state won a total of $350,000 in a recent drawing, although no one took home the $1.44 billion jackpot, lottery officials said.

A total of five lottery tickets bought at Washington stores resulted in big wins following the Powerball drawing on Wednesday, Sept. 3, according to a news release from Washington’s Lottery.

One of the winning tickets was sold in Connell near Tri-Cities, the release said.

“This now makes a whopping 28 large prizes — ranging from $50,000 to $1 million — sold in Washington since the jackpot was last won on May 31,” Washington’s Lottery said in the release, with “12 big winners” so far in September.

According to Washington’s Lottery, someone bought a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 at Circle K, 660 South Columbia Ave. in Connell.

The Tri-City Herald reached out to Circle K for comment but was unable to reach anyone at the convenience store as of midday Thursday, Sept. 4.

Part of Franklin County, Connell is about 35 minutes north of Pasco by car. It’s a straight shot on Highway 395, about halfway to Ritzville.

Connell had an estimated population of 5,175 residents in 2024, according to the Washington State Office of Financial Management.

The major employer in the city is Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, a medium-security prison operated by the Washington State Department of Corrections that draws workers from across the Tri-Cities. Coyote Ridge is one of the largest prisons by capacity in the state, with room for more than 2,000 inmates.
