Construction to close Richland intersection for 3 weeks. When and where

A Tri-Cities intersection will close for about three weeks due to construction.

Work is beginning on a roundabout at the intersection of Dallas Road and Trowbridge Boulevard in Richland, according to a news release from the city.

It’s part of the Dallas Road Roundabouts project, a developer-driven improvement project intended to improve traffic and safety in the Badger Mountain South community.

Where is Dallas Road closed?

Trowbridge Boulevard will close at its intersection with Dallas Road to “accommodate essential construction work,” the city said in its release.

When will Richland intersection be shut off to traffic?

The crossroads closure will begin on around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, according to the city.

It’s expected to last through early September, according to the city.

Which detours can I take to avoid roadwork?

Drivers headed east and west on Trowbridge Boulevard will be detoured through Gateway Avenue, the city said.

In addition, traffic will shift lanes at the Ava Way intersection, according to the city.

“Motorists are advised to follow all posted detour signs, drive with caution and plan for potential delays when traveling in the area,” the city said in its release.

A 25-mph work zone speed limit is in place for the duration of construction.

What is the Dallas Road Roundabouts project?

Construction on the Dallas Road Roundabouts project began in 2024 and is expected to be completed in late spring 2026, according to project information posted online to the City of Richland Transparency Center.

The project includes the installation of two roundabouts on Dallas Road: the Trowbridge Boulevard roundabout and another roundabout on Ava Way.

Additionally, sidewalks and accessible crossings will be installed in each direction.

Other aspects of the project include street widening, city utility installation, new paving and pavement markings, new street signs and the extension of electrical, fiber and natural gas utilities, as outlined in the Transparency Center.
