Below are the official events and fireworks shows happening in the Tri-Cities area on July 4.

Grand Old 4th of July Celebration in Pasco

On July 4, Pasco’s annual celebration starts in the morning with a parade in downtown Pasco, as well as activities, games and swimming at Memorial Park.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. and travels up 3rd Avenue, west on Clark Street to 14th Avenue and ends on Sylvester Street.

Parade registration is open until 5 p.m. on June 30. More information is available at the city’s website.

It’s all leading up to the fireworks show at Gesa Stadium.

Here’s what to expect in the morning and afternoon in Pasco.

  • 7-11 a.m. - Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at Memorial Park, 1520 W. Shoshone St. (Tickets are $7)
  • 9:15 a.m. - Kids Street Dance at Memorial Park
  • 10 a.m. - Grand Old 4th of July Parade, City Hall to Sylvester Park
  • 12-4 p.m. - Camp Patriot Show & Shine Car Show at Memorial Park (Registration is 9 a.m.-12 p.m.)

Fireworks show

Before the fireworks display at Gesa Stadium, there will be a new Battle of the Bands show with four local bands, Desert Moondogs, Neon Madmen, Pazzi Pazzi and Trotting Roux.

  • 6:30 p.m. - Gates open at Gesa Stadium, 6200 Burden Blvd.
  • 7 p.m. - Concessions open
  • 7:30-9:30 p.m. - Battle of the Bands
  • 10 p.m. - Free fireworks show

River of Fire Festival in Kennewick

Kennewick hosts its July 4 celebration at Columbia Park. The festival features six live music performances, 12 food trucks and a kids zone.

There are two live entertainment stages during the event with music from 2-9:45 p.m.

Admission and parking are free. There will be two open parking lots.

• Columbia Park Trail between the Veteran’s Memorial roundabout and the East Boat Launch will be closed to vehicles from 6 a.m. on July 4 through 12 a.m. on July 5.

Here’s what to expect in Benton City at the Community Center and City Park on 806 Dale Ave.

  • 8 a.m.-12 p.m. - Breakfast in the Park, City Park
  • 9 a.m. - Flag raising ceremony
  • 11 a.m. - Kids Parade, 9th Street to Dale Avenue
  • Immediately following parade - Ice Cream and Trophies, City Park Main Stage
  • Dusk - Fireworks show

Prosser Fourth of July

The parade route for the Prosser Fourth of July Kiddie Parade starts at the Benton County Courthouse (1121 Dudley Ave.) and ends at City Park (1301 Sommers Ave.)

  • 10 a.m. - Kiddie Parade, Courthouse to City Park
  • 10 a.m. - Car show opens and bingo begins, City Park

  • 10:30 a.m. - Old Fashioned Games, City Park
  • 11 a.m. Hamburgers and tacos available
  • 11:15 a.m. Founding Fathers Skit
  • 11:30 a.m. VFW Flag Raising Ceremony

Tri-Cities fireworks rules

Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and West Richland all allow legal fireworks and are currently processing applications from sellers to operate stands in area parking lots.

Legal sales start June 28 and continue through July 5.

Unless local rules say otherwise, fireworks may be used noon-11 p.m., June 28; 9 a.m.-11 p.m., June 23-July 3; 9 a.m.-midnight, July 4; and 9 a.m.-11 p.m., July 5.
