“Growing needs.’ Big Battelle donation will make sure Tri-Cities seniors are fed

Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels has received a $10,000 grant from Battelle for its Sustainable Kitchen Project to upgrade equipment, refine processes and secure local ingredients.

Battelle operates Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland.

“This funding strengthens our ability to meet growing needs and ensures our kitchen operations can remain resilient and sustainable for years to come,” said Brandy Hickey, executive director of Senior Life Resources Northwest, which operates Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels serves people 60 and over in Benton and Franklin counties, delivering meals five days a week on a donation basins. It also has dining centers in Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, Benton City, Prosser and Connell.
