The Arts Center Task Force holds its annual holiday breakfast to support efforts to build a performing arts center near the Richland Wye.

The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., Dec. 3, at the Holiday Inn Richland on the River, aka the Hanford House.

Kevin Lewis, president of Visit Tri-Cities, will emcee the event, which will include an update on progress toward developing the Mid-Columbia Performing Arts Center near the Reach museum.

In February, Richland voters will be asked to raise the local sales tax by two-tenths of a percent, or 2 cents on a $10 purchase, to support construction of the $81 million, 800-seat cultural hub.

The Richland Public Facilities District, a public entity, agreed to put the request on the ballot in October.

The Arts Center Task Force is an independent nonprofit formed to advocate for the facility, which would provide a permanent home for Mid-Columbia Ballet, Mid-Columbia Mastersingers, Mid-Columbia Musical Theatre and Mid-Columbia Symphony, among others.

Tickets to the complimentary breakfast are by donation and sponsorships are available.
