Tri-Cities to the Big Apple. Mid-Columbia Mastersingers approach biggest performance yet
A Tri-Cities choral performance group is headed to New York City for a major performance. The Mid-Columbia Mastersingers have been invited to the world-famous Carnegie Hall for a performance alongside esteemed conductors and soloists.
Presented by MidAmerica Productions, Inc., the performance features the New England Symphonic Ensemble, with assistance from the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers, conductors Lorissa Mason and Anne Lyman, and a handful of soloists. They’ll take the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall at 1 p.m. June 1.
The performance will include pieces by Vivaldi and Bach.
According to a press release from MidAmerica Productions, the Mastersingers were chosen for their “high level and quality of musicianship.”
Led by director Justin Raffa, the Mastersingers’ mission is to “transform lives through the power of choral music.” It’s been around for decades, founded under a different name in the ‘80s. The organization includes several different choirs, with a full list of participants available online.
“We are thrilled to have [the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers] on our roster of distinguished and esteemed musicians,” stated MidAmerican Productions’ general and music director, Peter Tiboris, in the recent press release.
The performance will also include participating choruses from groups across the country, including several other Washington-based inclusions. The Sine Nomine: Renaissance Choir out of Seattle, Tacoma Community College Chamber Choir and Steilacoom High School Chamber Choir are among these groups.
The Mastersingers were invited to New York City ahead of the performance in order to prepare, rehearse and enjoy tourism options before taking the stage.
Tickets to the performance start at $25 and are available online or by calling 212-247-7800.
