1 teen died, 4 others rushed to hospital after head-on crash south of Tri-Cities
One teen is dead and four more were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland early Sunday morning after a head-on collision south of Tri-Cities, Wash.
Gavin S. Foster, 19, of Walla Walla, was driving a Nissan 200SX west on Highway 12 and was less than a mile from the Wallula Junction 15 miles south Pasco about 2:45 a.m.
His car crossed the center line and hit a Ford F250 pickup being driven east by a Kennewick teen.
Foster was taken by ambulance to Kadlec where he died. He was wearing his seat belt, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The pickup he hit was driven by Adrianna M. Rodriguez, 18, of Kennewick.
Neither she nor her three teen passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Passengers included Samantha G. Castaneda, 19, of Pasco, plus a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, whose names were not released because of their ages.
Rodriguez was in satisfactory condition Sunday afternoon, according to Kadlec, but the conditions of her passengers were not available.
It was not immediately known if alcohol was involved in the crash. WSP continues to investigate.
