32-year-old Kennewick motorcyclist killed in collision in east Kennewick

A 32-year-old motorcyclist died after a car apparently turned in front of him Monday on Highway 397 in Finley.

Khyl W. Cassano of Kennewick was riding his motorcycle north on the highway just before noon when a Subaru Forester heading south turned left onto a private road in front of him, the Washington State Patrol said.

Cassano hit the car at the entry to the Columbia Place mobile home park.

The Forester’s driver, Ignacia Prado Zavala, 58, of Kennewick, was treated at Lourdes Medical Center.

Investigators are still working to determine what happened.

Cassano, a Kennewick graduate, was an avid motorcyclist, according to his Facebook profile.

The state patrol blocked both lanes of the highway, also called Chemical Road in east Kennewick, for about two hours while they investigated.

The fatal collision happened in the middle of the westbound lanes at the entry to the Columbia Place mobile home park west of River View High School in Finley.
