Woman, 2 kids hurt in Highway 240 crash near Richland
A crash at a rural highway intersection sent a woman and two children to a local hospital on Thursday.
Michele R. Solomon, 29, and a 5-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl, all from University Place, were heading west in a Ford Escape on Highway 24 when another car failed to stop for them, the Washington State Patrol said in a traffic memo.
The collision happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. about 22 miles northwest of the Richland city limits. The area is between the Hanford Reach National Monument and the secure area of the Hanford site.
Solomon and the children were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, said the WSP.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander was Ramon Mejia-Naranjo, 26, of Mattawa, who was not hurt in the crash. He was cited for failing to yield.
A short time later the same night, Sarah V. Goedhart, 41, of Richland, lost control of her 2020 Chevy Silverado pickup near West Richland, said the WSP.
Investigators said she was intoxicated and missed a curve and continued straight into an embankment as she was heading east on Highway 224.
She also was not wearing her seat belt and was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
WSP investigators cited her for DUI.
Motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist received multiple tickets after a wreck on Saturday.
Brian Beauchamp, 32, of Kennewick, was taken to the hospital after wrecking his motorcycle on the on-ramp at Road 68 and Interstate 182, according to the state patrol. Investigators say he was driving too fast for the conditions, and missed the curve, leading to the crash. He was wearing a helmet.
He was charged with second-degree negligent driving, driving with no insurance and driving with no motorcycle endorsement.
A spokesperson for Kadlec told the Tri-City Herald that Beauchamp was in satisfactory condition on Monday.
