Celebrate fair season: Pop-up Kennewick parade with K9 grand marshal

Tri-City Herald

The Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo is holding a mini event this weekend after the COVID pandemic canceled the weeklong annual affair.

The fair association joined forces with downtown Kennewick businesses to have Fair Fun and Pop-Ups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Kennewick.

A mini parade starts at 11 a.m. off Dayton Street and end in Flag Plaza off Benton Street.

The parade will feature 2020 Rodeo Queen Lexy Hibbs and Grand Marshal Eddie Spaghetti — an honorary K9 officer from Mikey’s Chance Rescue. He was a dog abandoned in Benton City, then later rescued and adopted.

The parade will be live-streamed on the fair and rodeo’s Facebook page as well.

Food and retail vendors that will be open downtown will include Doggie Style Gourmet, Coffee Crush, Bombshell Sweets cotton candy, Layered Cake Artistry with The Local coffee, Miranda’s flowers, individual artists and more.

The Coffee Crush’s Lava Flow smoothie features flavors like chamoy, tajin and topped with popping boba.
