Need a job? Hundreds of census takers being hired in Tri-Cities region
The U.S. Census Bureau is looking for hundreds of temporary census takers in Benton and Franklin counties, it announced Wednesday.
Applications are being accepted now for jobs that pay $16 an hour.
Those hired in the Tri-Cities area will start work in the spring when people will be needed to go door to door to reach households who have not responded to the 2020 Census.
However, recruiting will only be done through February because of the background checks that are required before employees start work.
Applicants must be at least 18 and have a Social Security number, among other requirements.
