Mocha Express, a popular local coffee shop, announced it’s closing one of its outlets after eight years of operation.

The last day for the Kennewick drive-thru at 1400 W. 27th Ave. last day will be Sunday, July 5.

“The gas station that owns the property is expanding their operations, which unfortunately no longer includes our shop,” according to a Facebook post.

The Jackson Food Stores convenience store with gas pumps at the coroner of 27th and Union Street near the Yoke’s Fresh Market recently underwent a major renovation last year.

The company could not be reached immediately about its plans for that corner.

Commenters on Facebook left messages in support of the coffee shop, with some commenters suggesting the creation of a Richland or Pasco location as well.

Mocha Express has two other spots in Kennewick at 2802 W. 10th Ave. and at 5203 W. Canal Dr.

The Facebook post also pledges to keep the staff from the closing location working at the other Mocha Express locations.

Jacksons Food Stores took over five convenience store and gas station locations around the Tri-Cities area in late 2023. Jacksons Food Stores, based in Meridian, Idaho, said at the time the stores were transferred as part of a larger acquisition between PacWest Energy with Jackson Energy and Sun Pacific Energy Inc.
