Old Dominion unveils new $10.5M Northwest freight hub in Tri-Cities
Old Dominion Freight Lines Inc. officially debuted its new logistics hub in north Pasco on Thursday.
Old Dominion, based in Thomasville, N.C., built a 60-door, 32,000-square-foot freight terminal and office at 5806 N. Capitol Ave. after outgrowing its original home in Pasco.
The new freight center has ample room to grow with future demand for its less-than-truckload hauling services.
Stephan Ferrians, manager of sales and service in Pasco, said the terminal serves a 400-square-mile territory, with Pasco at the center. The company spent five years on the project.
It bought the 17 acres near Foster Wells Road from the Port of Pasco and invested $10.5 million to build it.
Furst Construction Co. Inc., its Salt Lake City building partner, built it.
Old Dominion received a certificate of occupancy to use the building in late 2025, but it waited until spring to hold a proper open house and ribbon cutting.
It was given a warm welcome by its local partners, including the Port of Pasco, which sold it the property after it began scouting sites for its expansion.
Old Dominion is the newest addition to the Pasco Industrial Center 395 a 54-acre industrial park flanking Highway 395 along North Capitol Avenue.
Its neighbors include the Amazon delivery station that opened in late 2024 and the Reser’s Fine Foods processing plant, which opened in 2022.
That industrial park has one undeveloped site left, though it is privately owned after the port sold it to United Parcel Service.
UPS intended a new logistics station but dropped the project amid nationwide cutbacks.
The 12-acre property is being marketed for sale by Kiemle Hagood, a commercial real estate firm.
It is under contract to an undisclosed buyer with a closing date scheduled in July.
Of note, Old Dominon’s new freight terminal is about two miles north of the spot where the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation have plans to develop a 165-acre tribal casino, hotel, event complex and dining facilities.
That project is undergoing federal scrutiny.
