A Tri-Cities favorite spot for grabbing a microbrew is getting a new home.

Ice Harbor Brewing is working on opening a new location in the old Welch’s Grape Juice plant in downtown Kennewick.

Ice Harbor is a 9-time winner of the Tri-City Herald’s poll for Favorite Tri-Cities Microbrewery/Distillery.

The new location, at 10 E. Bruneau Ave., will be on the second floor above a new indoor marketplace — the Public Market at Columbia Warehouse, set to open this spring.

The market, which will have a separate entrance, will be open Friday to Sunday throughout the year.

The indoor market stalls also will be joined by an event venue and commercial kitchen, according to the owners of the market.

The former juice plant has been empty since its last resident, J. Liebs Food, was sold in 2019.

Ice Harbor owners Mike Hall and Bill Jaquish were not immediately available this week to talk about their plans for the new location.

It will be less than half a mile to the east of their longtime flagship brewpub in a two-story grain mill. The distinctive landmark at 206 N. Benton St. sits next to the BNSF rail lines.

It’s unclear what the plans are for that site when the new pub opens.

Ice Harbor has been a mainstay in downtown Kennewick for 25 years.

Hall and Jaquish, former workers at the Hanford site, began brewing in 1997 and opened the downtown pub in 2004.

Ice Harbor at the Marina, which they bill as an upscale dining experience, opened in 2007 with a fuller menu, full-service bar and the same popular brews.

They offer a variety of beers year round, as well as seasonal specialties, many with Tri-Cities-related names, such as its Columbia Kölsch, Runaway Red Ale, Sternwheeler Stout, Dust Cloud IPA and Hop Warrior.
