Richland’s latest food temptations — Asian fusion to dessert pancakes and croissants
Richland’s newest restaurant and cocktail bar officially opened in The Parkway with live music over the weekend.
Soi 705 melds craft Asian street food with local ingredients and specialty cocktails.
It may be the latest storefront in Richland’s growing dining district off George Washington Way but others are tempting foodies with new offerings.
Ethos
Just down the street the ever-popular Ethos Bakery Cafe announced recently on Instagram it will open for an extra day a week.
Just in time for the holidays, they’ve adjusted their hours and partnered with DoorDash to deliver their espresso and cold pressed juices to wherever you are in Tri-Cities.
The store also features its house-milled whole grain breads and baked goods, as well as sandwiches, soups and more.
New hours are 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed on Sunday.
Owner Angela Kora operates the Richland bakery at 702 The Parkway (509-420-4650), and the original Ethos at Keene at 2150 Keene Road in south Richland (509-942-8417).
Baby Kake’s
Something new offers a twist on tasty little pancakes.
Baby Kake’s of Tri-Cities has two pop-ups planned in coming weeks.
The mini pancake sandwich bites are all dressed up with yummy toppings and creamy fillings.
One choice recently featured on Instagram was sprinkled with powder sugar, Mexican caramel Cajeta drizzle, whipped cream, bananas, peanutty mazapan and walnuts. Or try some with banana and strawberries and sliced almonds.
Upcoming events are 1-4 p.m. Nov. 28 at D’s Wicked Cider House, 9312 W. Tenth Ave., Kennewick, and noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at The Space in the Uptown Shopping Center, 1384 Jadwin Ave., Richland.
They also cater for events like birthdays, baby showers, sports events and fundraisers.
Prices start at $8 a dozen with unlimited toppings (Oreos, M&Ms, coconut, fruit, etc.) and drizzles (Nutella, chocolate, honey, Lechera, etc.)
Soi 705
Soi 705 is the reincarnation of a longtime Tri-Cities favorite, Mezzo Thai, which left its Gage Boulevard location in January after owner Jacqui Wright said she could no longer afford the lease during the COVID pandemic.
The restaurant takes its name, Soi, from the Thai word for “side street” and from its new address, 705 The Parkway, across the street from Frost Me Sweet Bakery and Bistro.
“We want to take you on an edible adventure across the globe without the plane ticket, with a drink in hand rather than a passport,” say the owners.
“Our recipes have followed us generationally from the famous streets (sois) of Bangkok to the vibrant culture of Liverpool, to this sunny corner of the world, Richland, WA,” they posted.
And it’s already gaining fans.
“Soooo good! Very fresh and modern food, beautifully presented. The vibe is fun and trendy with Asian pop culture decor,” said one customer’s Facebook post.
Another wrote: “This place is truly a gem. The drinks are fun, creative, and tasty. The Thai food is beautifully cooked and worth the price every time.”
It’s initial menu posted online featured appetizers like orange chicken bites, crispy duck rolls, “tofu tearsheets” and Rasa Malaysian meatballs. Prices start at $7-$8.
Entrees included curries and rice and noodle dishes, such as pork chili basil with Thai eggplant, Japanese-inspired yakisoba and a Chinese fusion wonton noodle soup, Ba Me Geow, starting at $12.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday hours are noon to 9 p.m. and they’re closed Mondays. Phone is 509-491-3400.
