Trios Health board member steps down

Trios Health is losing one of its board members.

Don Campbell, who joined the board of commissioners last year, announced during Thursday’s meeting that he’s stepping down immediately.

He didn’t elaborate during the session on his reasons for resigning, and afterward he declined to comment.

His term is set to expire in 2021.

Fellow board members praised his work helping lead the Kennewick public hospital system, which has struggled financially in recent years and filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection this summer to provide some breathing room as it works its way out of debt.

“If it hadn’t been for his efforts, I don’t know if we’d be where we are now with the recovery plan. We’re going to miss him,” said board member Rick Reil.

When a board member steps down, the board typically solicits applicants and holds interviews to select a new member.
