‘Bridgerton’ author coming to Tri-Cities. It’s already the ‘talk of the season’
The (not quite) Lady Whistledown has a missive for the Tri-Cities.
Mid-Columbia Libraries has booked Seattle novelist Julia Quinn as its featured author for the 2026 Mid-Columbia Reads in the Tri-Cities.
She’s the writer of the books that became the basis of the “Bridgerton” series, or as Mid-Columbia Libraries describes her, the “esteemed chronicler of romance, scandal and sharp-witted heroines.”
“The ton in the Tri!! Can’t wait,” posted one fan already.
If that sends your heart racing, you’ll want to mark your calendar for Nov. 12.
The Tri-Cities based library system announced her November appearance with a message from the “Quite Certainly Not Lady Whistledown (But Close Enough).”
In the series, she’s the witty, initially anonymous author of a gossip scandal sheet, with each report eagerly awaited by London’s high society.
“Dearest gentle reader, It is this author’s greatest pleasure to report that an event of the most uncommon distinction is soon to grace our fair region,” writes the not-quite Lady Whistledown in Mid-Columbia Libraries’ announcement.
“On Thursday, November 12, 2026, members of society are invited to gather and delight in conversation with the mind behind ‘Bridgerton,’ whose tales have set hearts aflutter and tongues wagging across drawing rooms,” she writes. “One can only imagine what insights, confessions and charming revelations the evening may hold.”
She warns that “opportunities of this caliber do not present themselves often, and those who miss it may find themselves the subject of considerable regret.”
The social media announcement has been met with enthusiasm of fans of the book and the TV series produced by Shondaland for Netflix.
“We have to get the outfit figured out now!” posted one fan of the show and evidently its sumptuous period costumes.
Another posted, “I dare say the evening will be the talk of the season — I shall not miss it. Yours most sincerely, Nidia.”
Fans’ only concern posted on Mid-Columbia Libraries Facebook page, is that the library system will need a larger venue to accommodate everyone who wants to attend.
While neither the venue nor the time has been announced, the annual author presentation of Mid-Columbia Reads has been held in recent years in Pasco at Columbia Basin College’s Gjerde Center.
The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ on Netflix started with Part 1 streaming on Netflix Jan. 29 and Part 2 of the season will start streaming Feb. 26.
