Seattle company wants to launch Tri-City talent with music networking nights
There’s plenty of talented Tri-City musicians and bands worth their weight in gold.
But when it comes to local resources — studios, venues and industry professionals — those are slim pickings.
One group hopes to change that soon.
Seattle-based Unleashed Entertainment plans to host frequent music industry networking nights in Richland, WA, in an effort to connect musicians with one another and to connect them with much-needed resources. They hope to build a local “music economy,” said Unleashed Entertainment founder and CEO Caleb T Brown.
“The problem in the Tri-Cities has never been a lack of talent, it’s a lack of opportunity. And networking nights are a great way to create these opportunities for Tri-City musicians,” Brown said in a statement.
The first event is 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at The Emerald of Siam. There will be an optional $5 charge for entry to cover event costs. After that, the event will take place monthly.
“The event will feature a free and organic way for local musicians to network. The nights will also feature a gear swap, guest speakers and a jam session afterwards,” said Brown, a Tri-City native.
He plans to bring A&R representatives, music label officials, recording professionals, gear heads and several other experts to the table.
In the 1980s and ‘90s, the Tri-Cities played host to a bustling music scene with acts spanning grunge, country, punk, alternative rock and hip hop.
The Emerald of Siam is at 1314 Jadwin Ave., in the Uptown Shopping Center in Richland.
