Longtime West Richland musician Eric Herman will premiere his latest collection of children’s songs to families at the Princess Theatre in Prosser in March.

Herman’s show will feature “eye-popping video projections, fantastic special effects, creative comedy sketches and virtuosic musical performances,” and promises to be a “one-of-a-kind extravaganza for kids and families,” according to a news release.

He will host four performances from Friday, March 18, to Sunday, March 20. Tickets are available to purchase online, and run $10 for youth and $12 for adults.

His tenth and latest album, “Magic Beans,” releases March 18.

“I am beyond excited to debut ‘Magic Beans’ at the Princess in Prosser,” Herman said in a statement to the Herald. “We’re using the stage and space there in some really fun ways, so as soon as your family walks in the door, it’s already a unique experience.”

“The show has pushed all of us to find creative ways to combine things like music and theater and visuals and comedy,” he continued.

Though his songs are silly in nature and are based around common interests of young children, Herman says his music has ties to psychedelic art-rock.

It’s like “Dark Side of the Moon” or “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” but for kids, the news release says.

Comparisons also have made to author Shel Silverstein, musician Jack Black and television host Fred Rogers.

“I’m going as big as I can on this in every way, including ideas. We are daring to ask the question of what it means to exist. Come and discover if we have an answer,” Herman said.

Having originally played in bands on the East Coast, Eric Herman Endres got his start in children’s music with the release of “The Elephant Song” about 15 years ago, which gained substantial notoriety in the early days of YouTube.

The song was featured on his 2003 album “The Kid in the Mirror,” and later went on to gain more than 100 million views, his biography says.
