Irwin, Grillo lead Dusters A sweep of Knights

Nick Irwin threw seven full innings to win Game 1 5-2, and Chase Grillo led the Kennewick Dusters with three hits in a 12-2 Game 2 victory to lift the Dusters to a CWL ‘A’ doubleheader sweep of the Richland Knights on Monday.

On Sunday, the Dusters won twice at the West Valley Big Bang Wood Bat tournament in Yakima, beating Hermiston 10-5 in the championship game. With Kennewick trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh, the Dusters rallied for eight runs, highlighted by Irwin’s bases-clearing double.

Community service

The Tri-City Americans will host a donation for the fire victims of North Central Washintgon today from 12:30-5:30 p.m. at the Main 1 foyer of the Toyota Center. Donations of new and gently used every day household items (toiletries, towels, batteries, flashlights, pet food, non-perishable food, paper plates, etc.) are appreciated. Donations of $10 or more worth of items will receive a free adult ticket to the American’s Oct. 4 game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
