10:18: It's over. Hermiston holds off Putnam 20-14.

10:11: Craig Craker is developing his story, but he's building it around the game's final play: Southridge QB Grant Walthim connects with junior WR Brenden Kelly for 34-yard TD as time expires to beat Richland at the Lamp 9-7. Talk about poise. Walthim got the ball with 1:52 left in the game at the Southridge 18. He managed the clock for a 10-play GW drive.

10:08: ‏Realignment reduces the interest level in this score, but Eisenhower 29, Wenatchee 27.

9:56 p.m.: Pasco High staff just called from Miner's. West Valley defeated the Bulldogs 23-0.

9:50 p.m. It's a final: The Hanford Falcons roll over No. 5 Chiawana 23-7. Falcons controlled the line of scrimmage and didn't make mistakes, reports TCH's Jack Millikin.

9:48 p.m. Hermiston takes lead on Putnam 20-14 after Cory Adams' 13-yard run. @BillyGatesHH Putnam blocks PAT. There's 9:43 left in 4Q. Adams has 135 yards rushing.

9:35 p.m.: Billy Gates of the Hermiston Herald might be covering the best game of the night. Hermiston and Putnam of Milwaukie are tied at 14 early in the 4Q. ‏@BillyGatesHH

9:26 p.m.: Royal scores on the final play of the game. The Knights cruise in Leavenworth 52-14 over Cascade. Royal will play at home next week vs. Quincy, which dropped down from the CWAC to the Caribou Trail League.

9:15: Jalen DeVine stopped at line of scrimmage, bounces it down left sideline for 55-yd TD run. Hanford leads 23-7 with 8 min left. ‏@SportsTriCities

9:11 p.m.: Royal has turned its opener in Leavenworth into a laugher, leading Cascade 46-7. How bad is it? The radio team is bringing small children into the booth and having them say hello to granddads.

8:59 p.m.: Falcons convert critical Chiawana turnover into 7 points. Austin Taylor rushes up the gut to give Hanford a 16-7 lead, late 3Q @SportsTriCities

8:44 p.m.: Wenatchee 15, Eisenhower 15 (halftime), via ‏@WWsportsticker

8:31 p.m.: According to royalhighsports.com, Alex Myrick completed 9 of 16 pass attempts for 144 yards in the first half. He connected with six receivers. Brady Dixon caught three passes for 54 yards and 2 TDs.

8:27 p.m.: Hmm, just took a good look at DQ Blizzard on the back page of the Tri-City Herald Football Campaign 2012 special section. I'll be happy to settle for a fresh Elberta peach from the childhood home of Southridge baseball coach Tim Sanders.

8:25 p.m.: Royal enjoys a 34-7 halftime lead over the Cascade Kodiaks in Leavenworth. You can listen to the broadcast at http://www.royalhighsports.com/broadcast.htm.

8:07 p.m.: One of the games of the night is shaping up to be just that. Hanford leads visiting Chiawana 9-7 in the second quarter, thanks in part to a safety. Chiawana's punt snap sails over TJ Avery's head.

While some may consider it an upset, a victory by Hanford would confirm the optimism that Rob Oram's squad holds. This is Oram's eighth season at the Richland school, and his record is 24-47.
