Pro indoor soccer team returning
Professional indoor soccer is returning to the Puget Sound area, new club owner Dion Earl announced on Monday.
Earl, a former player for the A-League Seattle Sounders and indoor Seattle SeaDogs, said the team will be called The Stars, with no specific home city included.
Earl said a home arena and head coach will be announced in two to three weeks. The team will play in the newly organized Major Arena Soccer League, which will bring together teams that previously played in the Major Indoor Soccer League and Professional Arena Soccer League.
“My three kids are the driving force,” Earl said. “I want them to grow up to play soccer someday and grow to love it as much as I did. I want to bring professional indoor soccer back to the area. It’s exciting.”
The MASL is expected to begin a 20-game season in October. @donruiztnt
