Carey Price is no stranger to winning awards for his work on the ice.

The former Tri-City American and current Montreal Canadiens goaltender has a bevy of hardware to show for his hard work.

Friday night, Price will receive an Indspire Award, which recognizes the success of individuals who have the discipline, drive and determination to set high standards and accomplish their goals. They promote self-esteem and pride for the indigenous community and provide outstanding role models for indigenous youth.

The event will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Price will not attend. His parents, Jerry and Lynda, will accept on his behalf.

Price, 28, who grew up in Anahim Lake, British Columbia, is being honored for his achievement in sports. He is a member of the Ulkatcho First Nation.

There are 14 awards in areas such as arts, business, education, politics, and law and justice.

While playing with the Americans (2003-07), Price recorded 83 wins (ranks No. 2 all time), 15 shutouts (No. 1) and a .914 save percentage (No. 1). In 2007, he was a first-team Western Conference All-Star, was named Western Hockey League Goaltender of the Year and led Team Canada to a gold medal at the World Junior Championship.

Montreal selected Price fifth overall in the 2005 NHL draft.

He was named to the NHL all-rookie team in 2008, and he has played in four NHL All-Star Games.

Last season, he set a Canadiens record with 44 wins, surpassing legends Jacques Plante and Ken Dryden, who each had 42. His performance earned him the Hart Memorial Trophy (NHL MVP), the William M. Jennings Trophy (goaltender playing for the team with fewest goals allowed), the Vezina Trophy (top goaltender) and the Ted Lindsay Award (best player as voted on his peers).

He also backed Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
