Americans lose 4-3 in Portland
Jordan Topping scored a pair of goals, but the Tri-City Americans came up short in a 4-3 loss to the Winterhawks on Sunday in Portland.
Topping’s 20th goal of the season pulled the Ams (20-25-2-0, 42 points) even at 3-all 3:20 into the third period. But Alex Schoenborn scored the difference-maker midway through the period for Portland (25-21-2-0, 52).
Beau McCue scored his 19th of the season late in the first peroid, and Topping connected at 14:37 of the second.
Evan Sarthou had 27 saves in goal for the Americans.
