Americans win streak comes to an end

The Tri-City Americans saw their three-game win streak come to an end Friday with a 4-2 loss to the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.

Tied at 2-2 after 40 minutes, the Rockets got goals from Rourke Chartier and Tyson Baillie in the third period to seal the win for Kelowna, which leads the Western Conference with a 32-11-3-0 record.

Tri-City (20-24-2-0, 42 points), which will play at Portland on Sunday, got a first-period goal from Parker Bowles — his team-leading 27th — to give the Americans a 1-0 lead.

After Kelowna scored to make it 1-1 early in the second, rookie Michael Rasmussen potted his 10th goal of the season to give the Americans a 2-1 lead at 7:45.

Rodney Southam tied the score at 2-2 late in the second to give the Rockets momentum.
