Americans lose 5-4 in OT at Portland
The Portland Winterhawks scored the tying goal with 5 1/2 minutes left in regulation and got the winner 2:19 into overtime, handing the Tri-City Americans a 5-4 road loss in WHL action Sunday evening.
Parker Bowles and Jeff Rayman scored in the first period, and Morgan Geeke and Tyler Sandhu struck goal in the second as the Americans () built a 4-2 lead midway through the game.
Evan Sarthou finished with 42 saves for Tri-City, which was outshot 47-25.
The two teams play again Tuesday as the Americans return home to the Toyota Center.
