Americans fall to Thunderbirds 3-2 on the road

Jared Hauf scored with 1:39 remaining in the game to lift the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans before a Saturday night crowd of 6,192 at ShoWare Center in Kent.

Seattle’s Mathew Barzal opened the scoring with a goal at 6:35 of the first period. Tri-City (11-17-1-0, 23 points), which had just one shot on goal in the first period, evened the score at 12:56 of the second with a power-play goal by Parker Bowles.

Michael Rasmussen scored his seventh power-play goal of the season, tipping Brian Williams’ shot past Seattle goalie Taz Burman to give the Americans a 2-1 lead at 16:44 of the second period.

The lead was short-lived as Barzal scored his second of the night with 22 seconds remaining in the period.

Brian Williams finished with two assists for the Americans, while Evan Sarthou finished with 24 saves.
