Americans lose to Victoria 5-1 in preseason tourney

The Tri-City Americans capped their weekend at the Everett Preseason Tournament with a 5-1 loss to the Victoria Royals on Sunday at Xfinity Arena.

Parker AuCoin scored on the power play 61/2 minutes into the first period for the Ams’ only goal. Victoria took the lead late in the period, then proceded to outshoot Tri-City 36-9 over the final two periods.

Beck Warm started in goal and saved 26 of 29 shots he faced; Nicholas Sanders stopped 22 of 24 after enterring midway through the second.

The Americans return home for the Red Lion Hotels Preseason Tournament starting Thursday at the Toyota Center.
