Paul Bittner’s goal with 1:48 remaining in overtime led the Portland Winterhawks to a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Preseason Classic in Everett.
Alex Overhardt scored 11:35 into the first period for Portland. The lead stood until the third, when the Americans scored twice in 71/2 minutes to go ahead.
Brian Williams scored the tying goal at 2:01, then Taylor Vickerman put the puck past Michael Bullion at 9:28 on the power play to put the Americans out front 2-1.
With 2:29 to play in regulation, Brett Clayton put a rebound past Evan Sarthou to even the score and bring about overtime.

Bullion stopped 44 shots in the victory for the Winterhawks. Nicholas Sanders got the start in net for Tri-City, stopping 13 of 14 shots. Sarthou came in midway through the second period and stopped 18 of 20 pucks.
The Americans will finish play at the tournament at 11:30 a.m. today against the Victoria Royals.
