Former Tri-City goalie Ty Rimmer signs AHL contract
Former Tri-City Americans goalie Ty Rimmer signed an American Hockey League contract Tuesday with the Oklahoma City Barons.
Rimmer, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, played the 2011-12 season with the Americans, going 31-12-2 in helping Tri-City win a U.S. Division title.
Last season, Rimmer played for Lethbridge, where he broke a 24-year-old Hurricanes record for saves in a single season with 2,016.
This fall, Rimmer received an invitation to the Edmonton Oilers camp, and he played half a game last weekend, stopping 10 of 11 shots against Vancouver.
The Barons open the regular season Oct. 4 against the Charlotte Checkers.
