This hockey team was devastated by a bus crash. The Tri-City Americans are set to honor them
The four teams remaining in the Western Hockey League playoffs will sport a commemorative logo on their ice for the remainder of the playoffs.
The WHL sent each of the teams a Humboldt Broncos logo to help honor the Junior A hockey team that was in a tragic bus crash April 6 in Saskatchewan.
Sixteen people died in the crash, including 10 players.
The logos, which are of a mesh design, took the Toyota Center ice crew 5 hours to install Tuesday.
They carved out a section of ice, placed the logo, then added thin layers of water until they filled in the one-inch deep hole.
Fans will get a first-hand view of the green and yellow logo Monday when the Tri-City Americans host the Everett Silvertips in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.
Lethbridge and Swift Current are playing in the Eastern Conference finals.
