Americans log another win against the Central Division

Patrick Dea, who spent the first three years of his WHL career with the Edmonton Oil Kings, came back to haunt his former team Friday night.

Dea finished with 24 saves, and Nolan Yaremko scored two goals as the Tri-City Americans shut out the Oil Kings 5-0 before a crowd of 7,332 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

It was Dea’s second shutout of the season and fourth of his career.

The Americans (17-10-3-0, 37 points), who have won their first two games of their three-game Central Division swing, play at Red Deer on Saturday.

Yaremko scored his first goal just 29 seconds into the game, and his second 37 seconds into the second period.

Dylan Coghlan also scored in the first period, while Carson Focht scored in the second and Jordan Topping in the third.

Michael Rasmussen had three assists on the night and has points in his past five games (7 goals, 4 assists). Morgan Geekie handed out two assists.

Edmonton’s Boston Bilous gave up three goals on 18 shots, while Travis Child allowed two on 17 shots. The Americans outshot Edmonton 35-24.
