Everett slips past Tri-City on late goal
Michael Rasmussen scored twice on Sunday at the Toyota Center, but the Tri-City Americans fell to the Everett Silvertips 4-3, with the game-winning goal coming in the final 20 seconds of regulation.
The loss was Tri-City’s sixth in its past eight games and kept it firmly in fourth place in the U.S. Division standings at 15-10-3-0.
Bryce Kindopp had two goals for Everett (19-12-1-1), including the game-winner with 18 seconds remaining. That goal answered Rasmussen’s second (14th of the season), which tied the game at 3-all early in the third period.
Maxwell James scored the other Americans’ goal, giving them a 2-1 lead at the 5:31 mark of the second period — their only lead of the game.
After playing eight of its past nine games in the friendly confides of the Toyota Center, Tri-City hits the road this week to play at Medicine Hat on Wednesday, Edmonton on Friday and Red Deer on Saturday. The four-game road trip concludes with a game against the Portland Winterhawks on Dec. 27 at the Moda Center.
