Warm, Americans shut out Thunderbirds
Beck Warm posted his first career shutout, and Dylan Coghlan scored two second-period goals to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-0 victory Friday over the Seattle Thunderbirds at ShoWare Center in Kent.
The Americans (12-4-2-0, 26 points), who have points in 11 consecutive games, lead the U.S. Division, two points ahead of Portland, which was idle Friday.
Warm, who missed four games with a lower-body injury, returned in fine fashion, stopping all 43 shots that came his way. He also played a big part on the penalty kill as the Americans killed off six Seattle power plays.
Coghlan’s goals were part of a three-goal spree in a span of 3:10 in the second period.
Carson Focht started things off at 3:49 to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead. Coghlan followed with goals at 5:01 and 6:59 to finish out the scoring.
Nolan Yaremko scored a power-play goal in the first period for the Americans.
Michael Rasmussen chipped in two assists for Tri-City, which plays at Portland on Saturday.
