James, Yaremko power Tri-City past Kootenay
Max James scored four goals, and Nolan Yaremko added two goals and two assists to lead the Tri-City American to a 7-0 victory Thursday over the Kootenay Ice at the Red Lion Hotels Preseason Tournament at Toyota Center.
The Americans have scored 29 goals in their four preseason games.
James scored the first two goals of the game, and Tri-City led 4-0 at the end of two periods with Yaremko adding two goals of his own.
In the third period, James scored twice, with Parker AuCoin sandwiching a goal in between.
Beck Warm got the start in goal for the Americans (3-0-1), making 13 saves before Patrick Dea finished out with 17 saves to share the shutout.
Sergio Sapego handed out three assists, and Vladislav Lukin two for Tri-City, which was 2-for-4 on the power play.
Mario Petit took the loss for Kootenay.
Tri-City will play Red Deer at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
Also Friday, Portland will play Kootenay at 11 a.m., followed by Spokane and Seattle at 3 p.m.
In the first game Thursday, Ilijah Colina scored the game winner in the shootout to lead Portland to a 6-5 win over Spokane.
