Yaremko, Mutala each score 3 goals in Tri-City’s win over Everett

Rookie Sasha Mutala and veteran Nolan Yaremko each had a hat trick Friday night as the Tri-City Americans cruised to a 9-4 victory over the host Silvertips at the Everett Preseason Classic.

Everett’s Patrick Bajkov, who had two goals on the night, scored just 16 seconds into the game for Everett, but it was all Tri-City in the first preseason game for both teams.

Yaremko scored twice for a 2-1 lead after the first period, then after another Bajkov goal, Mutala scored twice, Yaremko finished his hat trick, and Mutala did the same for a 6-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Morgan Geekie scored twice, and Parker AuCoin added a goal in the third for Tri-City, which was outshot 39-36 by Everett.

Brett Leason handed out four assists for Tri-City, while Beck Warm picked up the win in goal.

The Americans were 1-for-5 on the power play, and killed off all four Everett power plays.

Tri-City plays Portland at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and Vancouver at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
