For the past six seasons, Adam Shackleford has been on the sidelines for the Tri-Cities Fever’s season opener.

That will not change in 2016, though the Fever’s former coach will be on the other sideline when Tri-Cities opens the IFL season Feb. 28 at the Spokane Shock.

It will be the first of 16 games on the Fever schedule, announced Tuesday as the IFL released all team schedules.

It also will mark the first game of Ryan Lingenfelder’s tenure as the Fever coach, replacing Shackleford who jumped to his former team when Spokane joined the IFL.

This will be the first year the 12-team IFL will have 16-game schedules, with each team having a pair of byes to stretch the regular season to 18 weeks.

After opening at Spokane, the Fever play their first home game March 5 against the Billings Wolves. All home games kick off at 7:05 p.m.

The final week of the regular season is June 25. The Fever will half their games — four each — against Spokane and Billings as West Division rivals in the Intense Conference. Tri-Cities will play home-and-home against the Colorado Crush, Green Bay Blizzard and Cedar Rapids Titans, and also have games at the Wichita Falls Nighthawks and at home against the Nebraska Danger.
