Fever re-signs quarterback McCain, defensive back Johnson

McCain, Johnson return to Fever

The Tri-Cities Fever announced Tuesday that quarterback Patrick McCain and defensive back Dontavais Johnson have re-signed with the Indoor Football League team.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound McCain, who played college football at Jacksonville University, joined the Fever late last season. He was 8-for-18 for 124 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in Tri-Cities’ June 6 loss to the Sioux Falls Storm before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

McCain was one of five quarterbacks to play for the Fever in 2015.

The 5-9, 170-pound Johnson, a former player at Coastal Carolina University, fought through a foot injury to start two games for the Fever in 2015. He will train in the Tri-Cities during the offseason.
