Fever’s Singleton named IFL defensive player of the week
Tri-Cities Fever defensive back Lionell Singleton was named the Indoor Football League’s defensive player of the week on Tuesday.
Singleton sealed a 41-37 victory over the visiting Colorado Ice when he intercepted a pass on the game’s final play.
For the game, Singleton had three tackles, two interceptions (increasing his league leading total to 9), and one pass breakup.
Singleton was a first-team, All-IFL selection and runner-up Defensive Player of the Year in 2012.
After beginning the season 1-6, for the first time since joining the IFL the Fever will not participate in the postseason this year.
The Fever is idle this week with a bye. Its next game is June 8 against the Wyoming Cavalry in the Toyota Center.
