Football: Fever's Killeen signs with Indianapolis Colts

Tri-Cities Fever’s defensive end Jake Killeen signed with the Indianapolis Colts, Fever head coach Adam Shackleford said Tuesday.

Killeen, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound, flew to Indianapolis last week for a tryout and was signed to a Futures Contract to earn a spot on the Colts’ roster.

“It’s exciting,” Shackleford said. “He’s certainly earned it. He’s done so much for the Fever in his two years. We wish him the best. He’s earned the right to go follow his dream.”

The Colts flew Killeen to Indiana last Monday and worked him out on Tuesday. Indianapolis lost to Baltimore 24-9 in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday.

Killeen has been one of the top defensive ends in the Indoor Football League in his two seasons with the Fever. In 2012, he played in 15 games recording 10.5 sacks, forcing three fumbles and intercepting a pass. In 2011, he had three sacks and an interception in eight games.
