UPDATE: Theoret disqualified, Shane wins Gold Cup driving Oberto U-1
The Gold Cup was awarded to U-1 Oberto driver Jimmy Shane after U-96 driver Jean Theoret was disqualified for going through the DMZ.
Theoret was DQ'd after he finished first. Meanwhile Shane battled hard to beat out J Michael Kelly and won the race.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m.: The lineup for the final will be the 1, 5, 9, 21, 27, 96; and the 11 will be the trailer boat.
Final is set for 4:55 p.m.

UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: J. Michael Kelly drove the U-5 Graham Trucking to victory in Heat 4B, getting his boat into the Gold Cup final.
Jean Theoret had the lead for much of the race, until H1 officials penalized him a lap for going under the 80 mph minimum before the start.
Scott Liddycoat finished second in the U-9, while Mike Webster was third in the U-22.
Theoret took fourth, and Tom Thompson was penalized a lap in the GBR-11 Peters & May for jumping the start. He placed fifth.

UPDATE 3:40 p.m.: Jimmy Shane in the U-1 had to fight off Cal Phipps in the U-27 to win Heat 4A.Shane had the inside lane at the start, with Phipps on his hip in Lane 2.
Shane had an average speed of 144.999 mph en route to the victory.
Brian Perkins got third in the U-21.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: Jerry Hopp, 68, let his son Greg Hopp and Dustin Echols cross the finish line early, and he coasted to victory in the Grand Prix Thunder Cup.
The two younger drivers were so intent on getting lane position at the start, they lost track of the clock. Both were penalized a lap.
But it didn't matter to Nichols, whose boat lost power on the second lap.
Ed Preston in the GP-17 finished second.

UPDATE 2:37 p.m.: Jean Theoret drove the U-96 to victory in Heat 3B, giving him his second heat victory of the weekend during the APBA HAPO Gold Cup.
Theoret continued to pull away in each of the four laps.
Jimmy Shane in the U-1 Oberto finished second and was battling J Michael Kelly in the U-5 Graham Trucking, until Kelly was penalized a lap for jumping the start.
Scott Liddycoat placed third in the U-9, Mike Webster was fourth in the U-22, and Kevin Eacret was fifth in the U-100.Kelly was sixth.

UPDATE 1:50 p.m.: Cal Phipps got a great start and pulled away from the field to win Heat 3A in the U-27 Dalton Industries.
The Gold Cup has now had 5 heats and 5 winners.
Brian Perkins was 2nd in the U-21, and Tom Thompson in the GBR-11 was third.

UPDATE 11:22 a.m.: Here's the draw for the next round of heats: 3A is 3, 7, 11, 12, 21, 27. 3B will be 1, 5, 9, 22, 96 and 100.

UPDATE 11:09 a.m.: Dustin Echols drove the GP-55 to an easy victory in the day's first Grand Prix heat. Echols got a great start and no one could catch him.
The Thunder Cup final is set for 2:25 p.m. today.

UPDATE 9:20 a.m.: Scott Liddycoat won Heat 2B driving the U-9 Les Schwab/RedDOT to a wire-to-wire victory.
Cal Phipps piloted the U-27 Dalton Industries to second, while Tom Thompson got third in the GBR-11 Peters & May.
Brian Perkins was 4th in the U-21 Fasteners Inc; Jesse Robertson got 5th in the U-7 Graham Trucking II; and Kevin Eacret was 6th in the U-100 Miss Carstar.
Heat 3A is set for 1:30 pm.

The two were neck and neck the entire 4 laps.
Jimmy Shane in the U-1 Oberto was third and Mike Webster in the U-22 Payne West Insurance was fourth.
Jimmy King in the U-3 Griggs presents Miss Ace Hardware was disqualified when he cut a buoy and went through the DMZ.
