Wrestling
Recent Hermiston graduate Sam Colbray, who will wrestle at Iowa State this winter, won the freestyle and Greco-Roman disciplines at 220 pounds in the junior division at the USA Wrestling Fargo Nationals, held July 16-23 at the FargoDome at North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D.
In freestyle, nobody scored on Colbray until the title bout, where he beat Minnesota’s Keegan Moore by technical fall 15-4. Colbray won every freestyle bout by technical fall, all 10-0 until the final.
In Greco-Roman (no scoring points below the waist), Colbray defeated Virginia’s Jeffrey Allen by technical fall 13-2 in the championship match. Colbray scored four technical falls and two pins — both in under a minute — on his way to the title.
