Mid-Columbia roundup: Legion baseball; CBC’s Rogers honored by NWAC

The Kennewick AAA Outlaws split a doubleheader against the Hanford Flames Thursday at Hanford High School in league action, dropping the first game 3-2 in 10 innings but drawing even for the day with a 9-4 victory in the second game. The Outlaws are now 5-1 on the season.

▪ A nine-run sixth inning propelled the AA Pepsi Cola Dusters to a comfortable 12-3 win over the Hanford Flames at home Thursday night. Now with a 4-2 league record, the Dusters will take on the Walla Walla Bruins in a doubleheader starting at noon Sunday at Walla Walla Commuity College.

Wednesday, the Flames beat the Dusters 6-2 and 4-2 as Shane Martin and Jake Rader pitched complete games.

NWAC

Columbia Basin College Athletic Director Scott Rogers was named the NWAC’s Athletic Administrator of the Year on Friday. Rogers has been CBC’s athletic director for a decade and was orignially hired as the Hawks’ baseball coach in 1997.
